My name is Jan and I breed my beautiful Siamese and Oriental cats and kittens under my GCCF registered prefix, Shuriken. I am based in Devon.
In 1979 I saw my first Siamese kitten whilst on holiday in North Devon. I just fell in love with her as soon as I saw her. Needless to say she came home with me. I called her Azure and she was a seal point. I adored her. I trained her to a lead and harness. I took her out in the car with me and when I stayed at my friend’s houses of a weekend I used to take her with me. Everybody loved her. When I used to come home from work she seemed to know when I was coming back and as soon as I touched the garden gate she appeared on the window ledge of my bedroom and when I got to the front door open she was waiting there.
I had promised the breeder that I would have her neutered and so I did but by then I was thinking that I would like to have a litter of kittens. I read all that I could and rang the breeder that I had Azure from a call. She let me have another Seal Point siamese kitten on the active register who I called Blue. I had my first litter of Siamese kittens. Not only did I adore Siamese but after that I was hooked on breeding. After that came showing which I thoroughly enjoy and have met a lot of friends. Breeding though is a passion of mine. The enjoyment of having a litter and seeing them grow, I find there is nothing better and gives me so much pleasure.
My husband, when we were taking one of our girls to stud, saw an Oriental black and like me all those years ago thought they were stunning. We had our first Oriental black kitten in 2010 from a good friend of ours and now we breed both Siamese and Oriental kittens.
